Rules of the game

The rules

The objective of the game is to gather as many pairs of cards as you can. You can pick the first player based on a coin toss, the youngest person, roll the dices... anything you like. It's essential to keep track of which cards are in which spots.

  1. Pick your first player using the technique of your choice. The game then proceeds in a clockwise way.
  2. Shuffle the cards and lay them out face down on the table in rows.
  3. There are 50 countries, which means there are 100 cards. Make sure you have adequate space (about 60x60cm) or reduce the number of pairs!
  4. The game begins with the first player turning over two cards (one at a time) and keeping the cards that match (for instance, two Luxembourg cards)
    1. They keep the cards if they correctly match a pair, and the player gets another turn until they fail.
    2. If the cards do not match, the players return them to the face-down position on the table, and the next person begins their turn.
  5. When all of the matches have been uncovered, the player with the most pairs wins.
